Ralph Gilles
Ralph Gilles is a Canadian-American automotive designer who comes from a family of Haitian immigrants and strives to support and embrace people of color during his design process. Gilles was appointed as the head of automotive design at Chrysler in 1992 after dropping out of college as an engineer to pursue his dream of becoming an automotive designer. During his time at Chrysler, he has designed various cars that embrace the cultures of people of color such as the Chrysler 300, which won ample awards and was heavily celebrated by the African American community. After his many accomplishments at Chrysler, he has established himself in the automotive design world and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest automotive activists.
